Chanchal Chowdhury

Chanchal Chowdhury is a popular actor in Bangladesh. Many consider Chanchal Chowdhury as one of the most talented actors in Bangladesh in recent times. His ability to internalize a character and histrionic ease in different characters has created a huge fan base for him. He started his career in 1996 as a theater actor by joining famous drama director Mamunur Rashid’s Aronnok Nattodol. Chanchal Chowdhury has acted in more than a hundred tale dramas, in addition to appearing in films and TVC (Television advertisements).

 

Chanchal Chowdhury Biography

Bangladeshi Actor Chanchal Chowdhury was born in June 1, 1974 in Kamarhat village in Pabna District. He spent most of his childhood in that village. He passed his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from Udaypur High School in 1990. After that he moved to Rajbari and passed his Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) from Rajbaari Government College in 1992. After passing the HSC, he moved to Dhaka in 1993 to study in Charukola Institute (Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka). In 1996, while he was studying in Charukola Institute, he joined Mamunur Rashid’s theatre group Aronnok. His first acting was in a minor role of Mamunur Rahid’s drama “Shundori”. He then worked on theaters for ten years in a row. During his time in theaters, he also performed in minor characters in TV dramas as well.

Career Of Actor Chanchal Chowdhury

His first major role in a TV drama was Faridur Rahman’s “Grash”. But, the drama was not successful. In 2004, famous actor and singer Fazlur Rahman Babu introduce him to two of the best directors in Bangladeshi Small Screen, Gias Uddin Selim and Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. It was a vital turn in his career. After that, he was getting offers to do more and more TV Dramas ( Bangla Natok). Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s TV Drama ( Bangla Natok) “Tal Pater Shepai” gave Chanchal Chowdhury the mainstream popularity. In that period he has performed in Grammen Phone’s TVC (TV Commercial) with Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, which also helped him to get nationwide popularity. In that TVC, he not only performed as a model, but also sung the jingle, even though he never had any formal singing lessons. Bangladeshi Model And Actor Chanchal Chowdhury later won the Meril-Prothom Alo award as the best model 2006 for this commercial.

After that, more and more high profile directors were started casting him. He then worked with Salauddin Lavlu, Saidul Anam Tutul, Golam Sarwar Tutul and so on. Some of his notable TV Dramas are Vober Hat, Goruchor, Nurunnahar, Swapner Bilat, Bongsho Rokkhe, Talpatar Shepai, Alta Sundori, Alta Shundori, Nikhoj Shongbaad, Pattri Chai, Boral Parer Shitlai Gaon, College Student, Ekjon Durbol Manush and Sakin Sarisuri. His acting as a privet tutor “Fiza Master” in Salauddin Lavlu’s mega serial “Vober Hut”, was a huge hit and has created a huge fan base for him.

Besides acting in TV dramas ( Bangla Natok) , he also acted in some films. His debut film was “Rupkothar Golpo” in 2007. He won the prestigious Meril Prothom Alo award for ‘Best Actor’ for his acting in Rupkathar Golpo. After that, he acted in Gias Uddin Selim’s film “Monpura”. As Gias Uddin Selim’s debut film, it received huge media hype before its release. Bangladeshi Bangla Movie Monpura won in five categories at the National Film Awards, including Best Film and Chanchal Chowdhury won the award for best actor. In 2012 he acted in Mostafa Sarwar Farooki’s fil “Televison”. The film was featured in multiple international film festivals, such as Gotteborg International Film Festival, Fribourg International Film Festival, Sydney International Film Festival, Seattle international film festival and Melbourne international film festival. The film was also nominated for Asia Pacific Film Festival Award December 2012 in Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography category, and Special Jury Mention in Muhr Asia-Africa Competition of Dubai International Film Festival.

Besides acting, Chanchal Chowdhury is also good at playing multiple musical instruments, singing and drawing pictures. His son in Monpura film “Nithua Pathare” is a big hit. He was a lecturer of Fine Arts in UODA (University of Development Alternative) from 2001 to 2006.
